CR Laine is committed to preserving the resources of our world for future generations. It is our goal to minimize the environmental impacts of our company through the continual improvement of waste reduction and use of sustainable practices.

At CR Laine, we are committed to preserving natural resources. To that end, our frames are made from hardwoods harvested from the Appalachian mountain region of the USA. An analysis by the USDA found our supplier's intensive forestry management has provided the Appalachian mountain region with a consistent increase in hardwood growth for the past 50+ years. This means any CR Laine purchase has not and will not compromise the lumber needs of future generations.

We strive to minimize the environmental impacts of our facility through waste reduction and energy conservation. Additionally, we carefully track our use of wood, foam, fabric, water, paper, batteries and aluminum to minimize waste and to maximize our recycling.

We use Flame Retardant Free cushions, foam, and decking that has been tested and approved by CertiPUR-US© to meet standards for content, emissions, and durability to ensure consumer safety and environmental stewardship.

The Upholstered Furniture Action Council (UFAC) has been working to reduce death and injuries from residential fires since 1978 through consumer education and an industry-leading product testing and verification program. Upholstered furniture bearing the Make Life Safer Plus verification tag has met the requirements of the Make Life Safer Plus flammability and flame retardant chemical verification program run by UFAC, a 501(c)(3) industry organization focused on fire safety. UFAC's independent safety program provides state-of-the-art manufacturing criteria for participating manufacturers to design furniture that is more resistant to dangerous smoldering fires and is consistent with CPSC's furniture flammability standard. The program also screens for the presence of the most commonly used flame retardant chemicals.

Frames Made From Sustainably Harvested Hardwoods
CR Laine is a certified Consumer member of the Appalachian Hardwoods Manufacturing Initiative. The hardwoods used for our frames are all sustainably-harvested from the Appalachian Hardwoods region, which is local to our area. For every tree that is harvested, 2.1 trees are naturally regenerated in its place. For more information on AHMI visit www.appalachianwood.org. All CR Laine frames come with a lifetime warranty.

Coil Springs Made From 50% Recycled Metal
Rows of double cone springs are positioned within the frame and supported by a platform of steel bands. Artisans then hand-tie these coils to the frame with high grade no-squeak twine at eight separate points. Only with this method is your weight uniformly distributed as you comfortably settle in. These springs are made in the USA and purchased from a local NC supplier. CR Laine's spring suspension also comes with a lifetime warranty.

Water-based Wood Adhesives
All frames are constructed with fitted joints that have been glued, double doweled, and reinforced with wooden corner blocks for structural integrity. To glue the joints together, we use only water-based wood adhesives with no VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

Plant-based Seat Cushion Cores
Foam padding and foam seat cushion cores made from at least 10% natural plant-based ingredients, such as corn or soy. All cushion cores are made in the USA and purchased from a local NC supplier.

Use of Regenerated Fibers
Seat decks and trim pads are made from 80% regenerated fibers. Back cushions are filled with 100% consumer regenerated fibers, which is then blown into a 100% cotton casing. These regenerated fibers begin as recycled plastic drinking bottles that are reprocessed into fluffy fiber. All polyester fiber is made in the USA and purchased from a local NC supplier.

CA TB117-2013 Compliant Foams
CR Laine uses Flame Retardant Free cushions, foam, and decking that has been tested and approved by CertiPUR-US© to meet standards for content, emissions, and durability to ensure consumer safety and environmental stewardship.
